When Martha Wayles Skelton married Thomas Jefferson, she brought many of her own items to their combined household. Among those items was a silver teaspoon with a twist pattern on the handle, made in London in the 1760's. The Monticello twisted teaspoon is a pewter reproduction of the spoon that belonged to Martha Jefferson.
